Alphabet's Waymo starts testing self-driving trucks

Monday 5 June 2017 | 06:26 CET | News
Alphabet's autonomous car company Waymo is exploring self-driving trucking, writes online publication BuzzFeed News citing the company. A Waymo spokesperson confirmed that the company is currently testing just one truck. Waymo said it was manually driving the semi on a public road for data collection purposes. Google earlier in 2017 announced it had been developing its own autonomous driving hardware. The company launched at the start of 2017 a pilot programme in Phoenix for people to take rides in their cars.
