Alternative broadband networks support common wholesale platform

Wednesday 16 September 2020 | 21:14 CET | News

The majority (88.7%) of challenger broadband network providers in the UK support the creation of a common platform to provide wholesale services to third-party content providers, according to a survey conducted by Point Topic for the Independent Networks Cooperative Association (INCA).

A common wholesale platform would allow INCA members to sign up service providers to their networks by aggregating the large volume of customers they could potentially reach. Independent networks are expected to reach an estimated 11 million premises by 2025. They have increased their full-fibre coverage by 50 percent over the last year to 2.2 million premises.
