Altibox uses Geodata digital system to speed up fibre network expansion

Wednesday 14 August 2019 | 20:04 CET | News

Norwegian fibre operator Lyse said its Altibox television and broadband arm has contracted Oslo-based software company Geodata's platform to collate procedures including planning, sales, development and supply. The digital system will replace the use of Excel and paper documents and will enable it to expand the fibre network. Altibox' partners no longer need to register data manually in their own systems and it can be updated continually, said Omar Retterstol Langset, deputy CTO and head of IT & applications at Altibox.

Lyse said Altibox currently has 32 partners nationwide laying fibre and it now has a 60 percent share of the fibre broadband market. Viken Fiber, its largest partner, began using the Geodata system in April. Geodata's customer relations officer Morten Hjallum said fibre operators can now see exactly how many metres they have dug daily, the location of their equipment, and how much of each job remains.
