Altice, Huawei sign Dominican network expansion deal

Altice, which owns telecoms operators Orange and Tricom in the Dominican Republic, has signed an agreement with Huawei for the expansion of Orange's fibre-optic and 3G/4G networks in the country.  The aim is to offer better coverage and stability, as well as preparing the way for the launch of convergent services. In comments reported by local daily El Nuevo Diario, Altice's CEO in the Dominican Republic, Abdelhakim Boubazine, said the deal envisaged the installation of 1,000 new antennas to double the coverage of the operator's mobile network in the major cities as well as in the provinces,
