Altice's Dominican Republic sales down 18% to EUR 133 mln in Q1

Thursday 17 May 2018 | 11:50 CET | News

Altice announced first-quarter revenues of EUR 132.7 million for its Altice Dominicana brand in the Dominican Republic, down 18.9 percent year on year on a reported basis and 2.4 percent on a constant currency basis compared to the EUR 163.7 million posted a year earlier, as continued fixed line growth was offset by a declining prepaid mobile business. Adjusted EBITDA was down 6.2 percent year on year in local currency to EUR 76.1 million, with the EBITDA margin falling by 2.3 percentage points to 57.3 percent, negatively impacted by one-off rebranding costs of around EUR 5 million.

In the mobile segment, the company’s customer base fell by around 34,000 in the quarter to 3.22 million, compared to 3.47 million a year earlier, attributed to continuous prepaid voice erosion and increased price competition for mobile data services. However, the company said new offers focused on data and value are expected to partially offset competition impact.

Altice said its fixed line customer base was stable in Q1 at 322,000, with a slight decline in its fibre base to 200,000 partially offset by the growth of its DTH customer numbers. Total fixed ARPU increased by 1.4 percent year on year in local currency to EUR 25.2.
