ALTON says higher Rights of Way levies could force operators to raise prices

Wednesday 8 January 2020 | 09:50 CET | News
The Association of Licensed Telecoms Operators of Nigeria (ALTON) says members may have no choice but to increase tariffs for voice calls and data after fourteen state governments decided to increase the cost of Rights of Way (RoW) for infrastructure, CommunicationsWeek reports. ALTON warned that a discriminatory tariff regime may become inevitable as they operate under different conditions in some states. Chairman Gbenga Adebayo criticised the states for coming up with very spurious taxes, charges and levies.
