
Amaysim begins operations in Australia

A new MVNO has begun offering services in Australia: Amaysim. The company charges AUD 0.15 per minute for standard calls Australia wide and charges AUD 0.12 per SMS. Data is priced at AUD 0.05 per MB. Amaysim uses the Optus network and offers Sim cards and top-up vouchers online or from one of more than 2,000 shops nationwide, including: 7-Eleven, Harvey Norman, Woolworths petrol, Newslink and selected BP stores. The company was founded by Australian telecommunications investor and adviser Peter O'Connell (chairman) and German e-commerce and telecommunication entrepreneurs Rolf Hansen (chief executive officer), Christian Magel (chief marketing officer), Thomas Enge (chief financial officer), and Andreas Perreiter (chief operating officer). The team (except Peter O'Connell) previously launched low-cost MVNO Simyo, which operates in a number of European countries.
