Amazon, Google still lead US smart speaker market, but there is room for competition

The Amazon Echo accounted for almost a quarter (23%) of smart speakers in use in the US, according to a study by Strategy Analytics conducted in July and August. For all smart speakers, Amazon still has the lion's share, 63 percent, with Google and Apple trailing behind with 17 percent and 4 percent, respectively. But when asked to name one brand they would choose for their next smart speaker, 54 percent of users chose either Amazon, Google or Apple, leaving nearly half the market open to competitors, the study noted.
