Amazon halts San Marino deliveries after tax row

Amazon is no longer delivering parcels to the Republic of San Marino after the territory's authorities seized a shipment of goods because of unpaid import taxes. The retailer proceeded to take back the goods and compensate the buyers before deciding to remove the enclave from its list of destinations, according to the website of local public broadcaster San Marino RTV. The origin of the row is that, according to San Marino's authorities, Amazon is refusing to pay a 17 percent import tax, broadly similar to Italian VAT.
