
Amazon has introduced Fire TV Stick, a small stick that connects to the HDMI port on an HDTV for instant access to movies, TV shows, music, photos, apps and games. Fire TV Stick is USD 39 and is currently available for pre-order at www.amazon.com/fire-tv-stick and will ship 19 November. For new and existing Prime members, Fire TV Stick is available for two days only for USD 19 on Amazon.com.
Amazon Fire TV Stick features a dual-core processor, dual-band, dual-antenna Wi-Fi with MIMO, 1 GB RAM, 8 GB of storage, the same user interface as Amazon Fire TV and delivers 1080p HD video and immersive audio with Dolby Digital Plus. Amazon Fire TV Stick comes pre-registered, enabling customers to plug it in and start streaming immediately.
The Fire TV Remote app for Fire phone, Android phones and coming soon to iPhone, allows users to navigate and manage playback from their phone. The app also features voice search, allowing consumers to use voice commands to search for a movie, TV show, actor, director or genre. Users can also fling movies and TV shows from their Fire tablet or Fire phone to Fire TV Stick, turning their TV into the primary screen and freeing the phone or tablet to provide playback controls, a customised display for X-Ray and the ability to place an email and browse the web while watching TV. Fire TV Stick supports standards like DIAL to enabling users to also fling services like YouTube, Spotify and coming soon, Netflix, from an Android phone or iPhone.
Using Second Screen on the Fire tablet or Fire phone allows users to see X-Ray information as their movie or TV show plays on the TV via Fire TV Stick. In addition, Fire TV Stick allows users to display lyrics and scroll line-by-line automatically as a song plays, play casual games on the TV and play slide shows and choose albums for the screen-saver on Fire TV Stock.
