Amazon joins We Mean Business coalition to help promote carbon reduction goals worldwide

Amazon has joined the We Mean Business coalition of businesses looking to accelerate the reduction of carbon emissions in the world. The global nonprofit works with over 1,200 companies, including the IKEA Foundation, with a total market capitalisation of USD 24.8 trillion, to advance policies on climate change and to keep the coming temperature rise to 1.5 degree centigrade.

Under the partnership, Amazon will help We Mean Business meet The Climate Pledge, the commitment co-founded by Amazon and Global Optimism tin September 2019 to achieve net zero-carbon by 2040, ten years ahead of the Paris Agreement. To achieve this, the two will mobilise supply chains, including SMES, to take and scale-up measurable and direction action on climate change, and also help company integrate nature-based solutions into their climate strategies. Signatories also commit to investing into companies whose products and services will help the world move to a zero-carbon economy.

Amazon noted that Verizon, Reckitt Benckiser, Infosys and Oak View Group were also new signatories to the Climate Pledge.
