Friday 29 January 2016 | 14:38 CET | News
Amazon has held meetings with music labels to discuss the launch of a subscription music streaming service this autumn to compete with Spotify and Apple Music, several music industry sources told the New York Post. The plan, which is still at an early stage, is being spearheaded by Amazon's vice president of digital music, Steve Boom. Amazon currently offers around 1 million tracks to customers of its USD 99 a year Prime service, but the new stand-alone music streaming service would charge its own monthly fee of USD 9.99 a month, according to the people.
