Amazon scales back consumer device development - report

Amazon is scaling back its development of consumer devices. In recent weeks Amazon has dismissed dozens of engineers who worked on its Fire phone at Lab126, its hardware-development center in Silicon Valley, people familiar with the matter told the Wall Street Journal. The layoffs were the first in the division's 11-year history. Around 3,000 people in total work at the lab.
