Amazon tests e-book subscription service - report
Amazon is testing a subscription e-book service, according to details spotted by GigaOM on Amazon's website. The Kindle Unlimited service would cost USD 9.99 per month for unlimited access to over 600,000 e-book titles and thousands of audiobooks. Amazon has since removed the trailer for the service from its site and declined to comment on the service. Earlier reports in the publishing trade press said Amazon was in talks with major publishers to launch such a service. Similar services, such as Oyster and Scribd, already exist in the US.

Amazon launches Kindle Unlimited subscription service

Amazon.com has introduced Kindle Unlimited, a new subscription service that allows customers to freely read as much as they want from over 600,000 Kindle books, and listen as much as they want to thousands of Audible audiobooks, for USD 9.99 per month. Amazon develops 'Kindle for Samsung' e-book service

Samsung and Amazon have developed an e-book service called 'Kindle for Samsung', Cnet reported. Kindle for Samsung works on the Samsung Galaxy S5 and any phone or tablet running Android 4.0 or above, and is available now in 90 countries around the world. The service includes Samsung Book Deals, which gives customers a free ebook each month from a selection of four titles.

Vodafone UK said it will add the new 4G-ready Amazon Kindle Fire HDX and Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 tablets to its range, on an exclusive basis, next month. Apple loses e-book price-fixing case, plans to appeal

Apple has lost a case brought by the US government and 33 state attorneys general in April 2012 which accused the company of fixing the price of e-books with five publishers to compete against market leader Amazon. Apple to launch e-book service in Japan in January

Apple will begin selling e-books in Japan from this month. The company has reached content agreements with major publishers, including Kodansha, Shogakukan, and Kadokawa Group, the Nikkei reports. The company tried to open an e-book store in 2010 to coincide with the introduction of the iPad, but negotiations with Japanese publishers stalled stopping Apple from actually launching an e-book service. Amazon has launched an online store selling electronic books and a mobile e-reader application on its Chinese website, reports the Shanghai Daily.
