Amazon to bundle internet, Prime services in Europe - report
Amazon is considering offering internet service directly to consumers in Europe, bundling internet access with its Prime streaming video offering, The Information reported, citing a person briefed on the discussion. The move would position the company as a cable operator in Europe.

Amazon brengt Prime naar China

Amazon heeft zijn Prime-dienst ook beschikbaar gemaakt voor de Chinese markt. De dienst kost daar 388 yuan per jaar, omgerekend zo'n 57 dollar, en daarmee ligt de prijs lager dan in de VS (99 dollar). De Chinese versie is geen kopie van het Amerikaanse aanbod en de dienst komt niet met digitale content, maar biedt wel gratis verzending bij bestellingen van 200 yuan of meer.

Amazon heeft over het derde kwartaal van dit jaar een omzet gerealiseerd van 32,7 miljard dollar, een stijging van 29 procent ten opzichte van een jaar eerder. Noord-Amerika was met 18,9 miljard goed voor het gros van de omzet terwijl uit internationale activiteiten ruim tien miljard dollar werd opgehaald. AWS droeg 3,2 miljard dollar (+55%) bij aan de totaalomzet. Het operationeel resultaat steeg op jaarbasis van 406 miljoen dollar naar 575 miljoen dollar.
