
Amazon to challenge Apple in tablet market - Forrester

Apple's lead in the tablet market may come under pressure if Amazon.com can carry of the launch of its own device. According to a report from Forrester Research, Amazon's tablet can compete on price, content and commerce. If it's launched at the right price with enough supply, the tablet is expected to "easily" sell 3-5 million units in Q4 alone, the market researcher predicts. While Apple will maintain a strong lead in market share, Amazon is expected to gain ground quickly and drive further development in Android tablet apps. Earlier reports have suggested Amazon will launch its Android tablet this autumn, in an effort to sell its online digital content over the device.
