Amazon has decided to build its new headquarters in two cities rather than one, the Wall Street Journal reports. Picking two cities will allow the company to attract more of the best tech talent and ease potential issues with housing and transit for its large workforce, a person familiar with the matter told the paper. Around 25,000 employees will work at each site.
Amazon collected applications last year from cities interested in hosting HQ2, its second headquarters after Seattle. The company is in advanced talks with multiple final candidates, but has yet to decide on the two new sites, the report said. According to the WSJ sources, the best candidates include Crystal City in Northern Virginia, Dallas and New York City. An announced could come as soon as the week.
