Amazon chooses Long Island City, Crystal City for HQ2 - report
Amazon has settled on New York City and Northern Virginia for its bi-headquarters, or HQ2, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing sources familiar with the matter. The public contest has taken a year, starting with 238 candidates. The two headquarters will be equally divided at their Long Island City and Arlington County’s Crystal City neighborhoods, both located directly across from the major city centres. About 25,000 employees are expected to work at each site. The decision will give Amazon a major presence in three coastal hubs.

Government officials from both New York and Northern Virginia are expected to hold events for announcements on 13 Novembers.

Google is also expanding its presence in New York City, at St John's Terminal in the West Village.
