
Amazon to launch tablet PC in H2 - report

Amazon is planning to launch its own tablet PC in the second half of this year, according to a report from Digitimes. Taiwanese hardware producer Quanta Computer has the order to build 700,000 to 800,000 tablets per month for Amazon. E-Ink is providing the technology for the device's screen. Amazon wants to launch a tablet as its Kindle e-reader has yet to gain traction outside the US and Europe. It's also planning to lower the price for the Kindle.
