Amazon to produce Lord of the Rings TV series

Amazon announced it has acquired the global TV rights to The Lord of the Rings, based on the fantasy novels by J.R.R. Tolkien. The company plans a multi-season TV series that will be available on Amazon Prime Video worldwide.
