Amazon's Luxembourg tax deal "constitutes state aid" - EU

The European Commission has published the preliminary details of its investigation into Amazon's unorthodox tax deal with Luxembourg, concluding that the arrangement probably amounts to state aid. "The Commission's preliminary view is that the tax ruling of 05 November 2003 by Luxembourg in favour of Amazon constitutes state aid," it said. Amazon replied that it had received no special tax treatment from Luxembourg. "We are subject to the same tax laws as other companies operating here," it said. The Luxembourg finance ministry, meanwhile, confirmed it had provided all the information
