America Movil gives up legal battle over interconnection fee

America Movil is adopting the Mexican regulator's model to determine phone fees, giving up a legal battle over the charges, Bloomberg reports, citing general counsel Alejandro Cantu. America Movil is offering all competitors a fee of MXN 0.39 (approximately USD 0.03) per minute to connect calls to its network, less than half what it had sought. According to Cantu, that would fall to MXN 0.31 by 2014 under the plan, which used the rate method developed by the Federal Telecommunications Commission. The offer has been already accepted by NII Holdings (Nextel) and Marcatel, as well as by America
