America Movil USD 1 bln fine on hold

The USD 1 billion fine against America Movil's Telcel unit has been put on hold while Mexico's competition watchdog considers an appeal from the company, Reuters reports. The fine imposed on Telcel on 7 April follows a four-year investigation by Mexico's Federal Competition Commission (CFC). The regulator ruled that Telcel has abused its dominant position in the market by charging excessive fees for network access, hindering competition. America Movil is fighting the ruling.
