AMOLED to soon become mainstream smartphone panel - study

Active-matrix organic light-emitting diode (AMOLED) screens are expected to become mainstream panels for the global smartphone industry in four years, outperforming thin-film-transistor liquid-crystal (TFT-LCD) displays, Yonhap news agency reports, citing data compiled by industry tracker TrendForce. AMOLED panels accounted for 23.8 percent of the global market for smartphone displays in 2016, below the 76.2 percent registered by TFT-LCD.
