Anatel report finds over 70% of Brazilian cities with fibre coverage

Brazil ended 2019 with 4,012 cities served by fibre optics, accounting for 72 percent of the total, while in 1,558 such infrastructure was still lacking, according to the updated version of the Telecommunication Networks Structural Plan (Pert), published by Anatel. Other figures in the report show that 93 percent of the population was served with fibre backhaul and in 47.8 percent of cities with fibre, there was more than one broadband provider.
