Android grows share in most major markets, declines in US

Android gained market share in most major markets in the three months to August, thanks above all to increased demand for lower-cost handsets, but lost share in the US, according to the latest smartphone sales data from Kantar Worldpanel ComTech. In the US, Android accounted for 65.2 percent of smartphone sales in the surveyed period, down from 66.9 percent a year earlier due to year-on-year sales declines for Samsung, LG, and Motorola devices, while iOS increased 2.5 percentage points to 30.9 percent.
