Antel inaugurates Uruguay section of Monet subsea cable

Uruguayan operator Antel has announced the completion of the new subsea fibre-optic cable connecting Maldonado in Uruguay with the city of Santos in Brazil. The 2,000 km long section has six pairs of fibres and will help increase the total bandwidth of existing submarine cable systems up to 90 terabits per second, said the company, adding that it invested around USD 77 million in the rollout.
