AP calls for greater regulator role in GDPR implementation

The Dutch data protection regulator AP has called for greater powers and independence in the law implementing the EU's new General Data Protection Regulation. In its advice to the justice ministry on the draft law, the AP noted that it will be up to national regulators to interpret the new regulation and its enforcement, and an important part of national implementing legislation is to ensure the regulator's independent role.
