Apple has agreed to comply with the Russian law on pre-installation of software of Russian origin onto its devices to be sold in the country, reports Vedomosti citing sources in the Ministry of Digitalisation. The applications will be available on devices from Apple in Russia from 01 April. The company has reached an agreement on the matter with the federal Ministry of Digitalisation.
The Russian government earlier approved a list of local applications that could be pre-installed in order to comply with legal requirements.
Apple is considering creating a dedicated section for the Russian applications on the App Store. The apps include browsers, anti-virus, mapping, messengers, email, video services, payment systems and numerous other applications from Yandex, Mail.ru Group, Kaspersky Laboratory, Rostelecom and other local companies.
