Apple and Samsung tablet share falls to 43 percent in 2014

The combined market share of the top two tablet vendors – Apple land Samsung – fell by 8 percent year-on-year to 43 percent at the end of 2014, according to a report from Strategy Analytics. Full-year figures revealed that Apple's share plummeted to 26.1 percent of the market in 2014, down from 32.6 percent in 2014, while Samsung's share dipped to 17.1 percent last year from the year-earlier figure of 18.3 percent. In total, Apple shipped 63.4 million units, followed by Samsung with 41.4 million. The report highlights that the top vendors cannot rely on inertia alone to hold market share
