Apple boosting production with new suppliers - report

Apple is ramping up production of its smartphones and tablets adding new contract manufacturing partners in Asia, people familiar with the supply chain said, reported The Wall Street Journal. Later in 2013, Apple will outsource manufacturing of the less expensive version of its latest iPhone model, the iPhone 5c, to Wistron, a Taiwan-based contract maker that currently produces smartphones for BlackBerry and Nokia, the people said. Apple also plans to recruit Compal Communications to assemble its iPad mini tablet beginning in 2014, the people said.
