Apple disables Apple Watch's Walkie-Talkie app

Thursday 11 July 2019 | 14:17 CET | News
The Apple Watch's Walkie-Talkie app no longer works after Apple found a vulnerability that could let people eavesdrop on other iPhones without consent, according to TechCrunch.com citing Apple. However, Apple said there is no proof the vulnerability was ever used. The app itself is still installed on users' watches, but it's no longer possible to make calls through it. The app provides push-to-talk calls through a tweaked form of FaceTime Audio. It was added to the Apple Watch with last year's release of watchOS 5.
