Apple has 100 engineers working on smartwatch - report

Apple has a team of around 100 product engineers working on a wristwatch with smartphone features, people familiar with the matter told Bloomberg. They said Apple senior director of engineering James Foster and another manager, Achim Pantfoerder, were part of the effort. The news follows reports that the company discussed such a product with its manufacturing partner, Hon Hai (Foxconn). Apple has worked previously on wearable computer devices to track fitness but did not bring them to market, one of the people said. Apple would not comment on the matter. In 2001, Hon Hai invested in start-up Wimm Labs, which designed a watch device supporting Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
