Apple loses appeal against Samsung in Dutch tablet suit
A Dutch court has cleared Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1 of any infringement of Apple patents. The court in The Hague said the similarities with the iPad were not enough to ban sales of the Samsung tablet in the Netherlands. In August 2011 a Dutch court provided a similar preliminary ruling, and Apple appealed. Apple was ordered to pay the legal costs in the Dutch suit, of EUR 132,000, as well as the EUR 75,000 in costs for the previous suit.

Apple has won an injunction banning sales of Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet in the US. The court said that Samsung was banned from importing the device, or any other product that is "no more than colorably different" and "embodies any design" that infringes Apple's patent. A Dutch court ordered Apple to pay damages to Samsung Electronics over a patent violation, Reuters reports. Tablet penetration reaches 12% in Netherlands

At the end of 2011, 12 percent of Dutch households had a tablet computer. Two percent of these even had more than one tablet, according to the latest research from Telecompaper's Consumer Panel. Samsung takes lead in Dutch mobile market in Q3

Samsung became the most used handset brand in the Netherlands in the third quarter of 2011, growing its market share at the expense of Nokia. Samsung circumvents NL Galaxy sale prohibition

The sale of Samsung Galaxy smartphones will continue in the Netherlands, despite a prohibition ordered by a judge in a patent case brought forth by Apple. The Samsung i9000 Galaxy S, Samsung i9100 Galaxy S II and the Samsung S5830 Galaxy Ace would be banned from 13 October, but Samsung told GSM Helpdesk it was able to adapt the software and so circumvent the order.
