Apple wins patent suit against Samsung in The Hague
A court in The Hague has ruled that Samsung infringed a patent held by Apple for a technique to swipe through a gallery of photos. Smartphones and tablets with Android 2.2.1 or higher but without the 'blue flash functionality' are in violation of the patent EP868. Devices with Android 3.0 are not subject to the order as the swipe is executed in a different way. A Dutch court earlier issued a preliminary injunction against sales of the Samsung Galaxy S, S II and Ace models in the Netherlands. Samsung must now have an independent accountant calculate the net profits earned on sales of the devices, under threat of fines. Apple will use the amount to determine damages. The ruling applies only for Samsung Benelux, and not the other companies charged by Apple.

Japanese court nixes Samsung's patent claim against Apple

The Tokyo District Court has rejected a patent infringement claim by Samsung against Apple. The court ruled that Samsung has no rights over data transmission technology that is used in some Apple iPhones, AFP reports citing a Samsung Tokyo spokesperson. Samsung had sought an injunction to stop the manufacture and sales of certain iPhones in Japan, claiming that Apple infringed on its patents. Apple, in response, argued that Samsung does not hold patent rights and thus cannot claim damages.

Apple, Samsung list devices using alleged infringed patents

Apple and Samsung have identified products they claim infringe their smartphone and tablet patents as part of their ongoing case, set for trial in March 2014. The filings refer to technology in newer smartphones by both companies, including the iPhone 5 and Galaxy S III. Apple claims that the Samsung Galaxy Note smartphones and tablet infringe its patents. Apple loses Dutch case against Samsung tablets

The Dutch court in The Hague has ruled for Samsung, in the case pitting the manufacturer against Apple, which claimed Samsung had infringed certain copyrights with its Galaxy tablets. The court said there was no infringement for the models Tab 7.7, Tab 8.9 and Tab 10.1. The court referred to earlier similar UK rulings and said it would concur with these. Samsung Electronics is withdrawing all its court requests for injunctions to block sales of Apple products in Europe due to patent infringement. Apple lost a Dutch court ruling in a patent lawsuit over Samsung Electronics's Galaxy handsets. Apple wants Hague judge to ban Samsung devices with Android

Apple has started three court proceedings against Samsung in the Hague, Webwereld reported. Apple wants a sales block on all Samsung smartphone and tablets which run on Android. A Dutch court ordered Apple to pay damages to Samsung Electronics over a patent violation, Reuters reports. Apple loses appeal against Samsung in Dutch tablet suit

A Dutch court has cleared Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1 of any infringement of Apple patents. The court in The Hague said the similarities with the iPad were not enough to ban sales of the Samsung tablet in the Netherlands.
