Apple moves in on Toshiba ops with Foxconn - report

Friday 14 April 2017 | 12:48 CET | News
Apple is looking into bidding for Toshiba's semiconductor operations with Foxconn, Reuters reported, citing public broadcaster NHK. Apple could invest at least several billion US dollars to buy a share of over 20 percent. Under this plan, Toshiba would maintain a partial stake to keep the business under US and Japanese control. The move would reassure the Japanese government's concerns about having the business go into the hands of a foreign company. Apple was not immediate available to comment. Hon Hai Precision Industry (Foxconn) declined to comment.
