Apple narrows US ad-spending gap with Samsung

Samsung is still the leader in the US smartphone market, however its Korean rivals have narrowed the huge lead Samsung holds with an advertising blitz in 2013. The top seven US smartphone makers spent just over USD 1.3 billion in 2013 on ads spanning TV, print, online, radio and outdoor venues, up 33 percent from 2012 spending of approximately USD 1 billion, according to ad research and consulting firm Kantar Media. Spending in the telecom category as a whole grew more than 8 percent, about nine times faster than the total US ad market that grew 0.9 percent, said Kantar Media chief research
