Apple's patent for the "bounce back" scrolling used on the iPhone and iPad has been found invalid in a review by the US patent examiner, a move that could affect its ongoing legal battle with Samsung, the Financial Times reports. Apple was awarded damages by a California court last year after a jury found that Samsung devices infringed the so-called '381 patent. In the August trial, the jury had found the patent in question to be valid, the first time it had been tested in court. However, in October the US patent examiner made a preliminary ruling that suggested the bounce back, or "rubber
