Apple smartphone share down in Q2, Android takes 79%

Apple's share of the smartphone market fell in the second quarter after the companny did not have a new iPhone on the market. Apple accounted for 13.2 percent of the 236.4 million smartphones shipped in the quarter, according to estimates from IDC. That's down from 16.6 percent a year ago. Android's share of the market rose to 79.3 percent from 69.1 over the same period, and Windows increased to 3.7 percent from 3.1 a year ago. BlackBerry's share dropped to 2.9 percent from 4.9, while Linux had 0.8 percent and Symbian 0.2 percent. Among Android vendors, Samsung leads at a distance with 39.1
