Apple to unveil iPhone 5 on 4 October - report
Apple is planning a major media event on 4 October, when it's expected to unveil the latest version of the iPhone, sources familiar with the matter told All Things D. The smartphone is expected to go on sale a few weeks after the announcement, according to the report. This will be CEO Tim Cook's first major product announcement, since he took over from Steve Jobs last month.

FT CEO says iPhone 5 to launch 15 October in France

The latest version of Apple's iPhone will be available in France from Orange on 15 October, according to the CEO of France Telecom, Stephane Richard. While Apple has yet to give an official launch date for what is being called the iPhone 5, Richard said in an interview with French radio station BFM that his company would have the new device next month.

Deutsche Telekom is giving out tickets to both new and existing customers allowing them to reserve an iPhone 5, WebStandard reports. Interested customers can apply for their tickets in a Telekom Shop from 05 September. These will be posted to customers within 2-3 working days. The iPhone 5 is expected to launch at end-September. Apple quarterly iPhone sales up 142% to 20.3 mln units

Apple reported revenues for its fiscal third quarter to 25 June of USD 28.57 billion, nearly double the USD 15.70 billion a year earlier.
