
In terms of individual phone models, the largest in units were the Galaxy Prevail with 2.25 million phones sold, the Epic 4G at 1.89 million and the Epic 4G Touch variant of the Galaxy S II, which sold 1.67 million units in the US. All told, Samsung sold 4.1 million Galaxy S II devices, which was offered in the US in four different models, depending on the operator.
The court documents also show Apple’s phone and tablet sales in the US. From 2007 through the second quarter of 2012, Apple sold a total of 85 million iPhones in the US, worth a total of USD 50 billion in revenue. From its 2010 launch, Apple sold 34 million iPads, generating USD 19 billion in revenue.
The companies' lawyers have tried to keep the information secret, but the data is needed to determine any damages awarded if evidence of patent infringement is found. A number of other companies have also petitioned the court to keep various information secret, including Ericsson, Intel, Research In Motion, Nokia and Microsoft. News agency Reuters filed an appeal, arguing that nearly all information should be made public.
