Apple's share of smartphone sales hits 76% in Japan
In November, Apple iPhones made up three of every four smartphones sold in Japan. The iPhones made up 76 percent of smartphone sales last month after NTT Docomo also started selling the devices, Bloomberg writes citing research by Kantar Worldpanel ComTech. Apple's share of smartphone sales at Docomo stood at 61 percent.

NTT Docomo is expected to start offering Apple's iPhone as early as this autumn, The Nikkei reported. Its main rivals, KDDI and SoftBank already market the popular smartphone. According to the paper, Docomo and Apple are in the final stages of hashing out terms of the sales agreement. NTT DoCoMo selling iPhone is 'a matter of time' - CFO

It is just a matter of time before Japanese mobile operator NTT DoCoMo starts selling iPhones, CFO Kazuto Tsubouchi told SankeiBiz. This marks a change since 8 August, when he told Bloomberg that DoCoMo could consider changing its position vis-à-vis Apple smartphones if it can limit iPhone sales to under 30 percent of the total.The operator is paring its number of models by up to half as it focuses on Sony and Samsung phone promotions, he had told the US business news outlet.

KDDI mulls in trade-in programme for iPhone 5 subs

Japanese telecommunications provider KDDI is mulling a trade-in programme for iPhone 5 customers to make up for inaccuracies in its ads regarding LTE service areas.
