AR, VR shipments down in Q1, to resume growing in 2018

Worldwide shipments of AR and VR headsets were down 30.5 percent year over year to 1.2 million units in Q1 but are forecast to return to growth in 2018, according to a research by IDC. The overall AR and VR headset market is forecast to grow 6 percent year-on-year to 8.9 million units in 2018. That growth will continue throughout the forecast period, reaching 65.9 million units by 2022. Much of the decline in Q1 occurred due to the unbundling of screenless VR headsets during the quarter.
