Arcep makes progress on data-driven approach to measure broadband QoS with crowdsourcing

France's telecom authority Arcep announced that its plan to use crowdsourcing to measure the quality of service experienced by broadband end-users achieved another milestone. The regulator worked with stakeholders on the development of a so-called 'access ID card' available via an API, which would enable the collection of data essential for accurate QoS measuring. In particular, the API will provide online measurement tools with information contained on operators' set-top-boxes, detailing the type of fixed access network used by consumers (copper, cable, fibre) and their headline speed.
