Arcep publishes assessment of digital technology's carbon footprint

French regulator Arcep has published a briefing paper on the carbon footprint of the digital sector, as part of its project to anticipate regulatory needs for future networks over the next five to ten years. The scientific committee of ten experts supporting Arcep in the project has discussed the issues raised in the paper, and interested stakeholders have also been invited to participate in the debate. Research data shows that digital technology accounts for approximately 3 percent of total greenhouse gas emissions worldwide.
