Arcep's 'fibre zone' initiative comes into force in France

The 'fibre zone' status proposed by French regulator Arcep has come into force with the publication of a legislative decree on 14 December. The initiative will award a special status to geographical areas meeting specific criteria, with the aim to accelerate the migration from copper to fibre broadband adoption. One of the concrete measures supporting this transition is to remove the obligation to install copper telephone lines in new buildings covered by very high-speed networks.
