Arista accused of infringing Cisco networking patents

The International Trade Commission has ruled that Arista switches infringe on two core Cisco patents that the company says are key technologies in network switching. The patents cover addressable memory and control plane policing, bringing the total confirmed Arista patent violations to five, said Cisco general counsel Mark Chandler in a blog post. The ITC ruling also included a recommended remedy consisting of an import ban and a cease and desist order, and that Arista pay a 5 percent bond on covered products sold or imported during a 60-day presidential review period expiring on 04 July
