Asus tablet shipments up five-fold in Q1

Asustek Computer said that its first-quarter notebook shipments and revenue rose by around 15 percent from a year earlier, as the company expanded sales in Asia and other markets with the help of aggressively priced products. The company expects second-quarter revenue to be flat from the first quarter, Dow Jones reports from a conference call with CFO David Chang. The company expects notebook shipments to grow from 4.7 million in the first quarter but tablet shipments to fall due to a product transition.
