Asus has unveiled new smartphones in its ZenFone range, including the flagship ZenFone 4 and 4 Pro and mid-range 'selfie' phones. The new series continues to promote top photo features, like the previous ZenFone range from Asus.
The ZenFone 4 Pro is the top of the range, with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, 64 GB RAM, 128 GB internal storage and 3,600 mAh battery with quick charging. It features a 5.5-inch full HD Amoled display and 2.1mm bezel, with aluminium unibody and front live fingerprint scanner. The ZenFone 4 comes with a similar design, with Super IPS+ display, the Snapdragon 660 chip, 4 or 6 GB RAM and 64 GB storage.
Both phones come with a 12-megapixel rear camera with Sony IMX362 image sensor and OIS, with a slightly better f/1.7 aperture for the Pro version versus f/1.8 on the standard ZenFone 4. Asus said the camera features the world's fastest Dual Pixel phase-detection auto-focus at 0.03 seconds, as well as a colour correction sensor and 4K video support. The Pro version has a second 16-megapixel camera with 2x optical zoom, while the ZenFone 4 comes with a second 8-megapixel camera with 120-degree wide-angle lens. Both also have 8-megapixel front cameras.
The Pro version also comes with a FM radio and Android 7.1, while the ZenFone 4 runs Android 7. Both feature High-Res Audio playback and dual-Sim slots, plus room for microSD cards.
For the mid-range market, Asus introduced the ZenFone 4 Selfie and Selfie Pro. These offer similar displays to the main series, but with slower chips, running respectively the Snapdragon 430 and 625 chips. Both phones feature 16-megapixel rear cameras, a 3,000 mAh battery and Android 7.
Asus claims the Selfie Pro offers the most advanced front camera in the world, with a Sony IMX362 dual-pixel image sensor and the company's SuperPixel Engine that enables users to capture 2x-brighter low-light selfies and 4K video. The Selfie Pro also comes with a 120-degree wide-angle, f/1.8 lens for the 24-megapixel dual front camera. The ZenFone 4 Selfie also comes with dual front cameras of 20 megapixels with f/2.0 aperture and 120-degree wide-angle lens.
