AT&T completes LTE-M network in Mexico

AT&T announced that it's completed the launch of its LTE-M network in Mexico. This follows the first pilot services started in Q3 and complements its LTE-M network already in place in the US.

Commercial pilots of LTE-M started in Tijuana and Puebla in the third quarter. In August the company also completed the first LTE-M data session in international roaming between the US and Mexico.

The new network will support IoT services in areas such as smart cities, logistics and asset management, security systems and supply chain management, among others. Compared to the traditional cellular network, LTE-M offers better indoor and underground coverage, longer batter life and smaller operating modules, AT&T said.
